Temperatures were expected to drop to 40 degrees at night, and there was a strong chance of rain. But the spirits of Penn Outdoors members were not at all dampened as they stood amid their urban campground. The club set up tents on College Green last Thursday and Friday for its 24-hour camp-out and fundraiser.

Being altruistic, down to the marrow

This afternoon, students can put their names down to potentially save lives. The National Marrow Donor Program will hold the second of two on-campus drives from 1 to 4 p.m. in Biomedical Research Building I. The program is an effort to get community members to volunteer their information for the national registry, which links donors to cancer patients in need of bone marrow transplants.

When bottles of Jose Cuervo tequila, corn husks and edible candy skulls adorned with the names of the deceased cover an altar on College Green, it must be the Day of the Dead. Dia de los Muertos, the "Day of the Dead," is typically celebrated on Nov. 2 and is an Aztec-Mexican tradition honoring relatives and mocking death itself.

Yossi Olmert, the brother of Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, expressed concern yesterday regarding Iran's nuclear capabilities and said Western governments had not taken a strong enough stance on Iran. He addressed an intimate group of students last night at Steinhardt Hall in an effort to bolster support for Israel in its current confrontation with the Islamic republic.
