For some black students, balancing activism and academics is an additional source of stress

“I think having to balance Penn with anything is hard, but having to balance it with being black is another level of stress on its own." 

Less than 10 percent of Engineering students are black or Latino. But this is changing.

Out of 800 Engineering students majoring in computer science at Penn, only 46, which is less than 6 percent, self-identified as an underrepresented minority.
