Stomachs full of soul spur student conversation

Over baked and breaded fish, collared cabbage, hushpuppies, and mac 'n' cheese with a kosher twist, Penn students contemplated how issues within their own communities have the ability to transcend borders. In honor of Black History Month, the Penn Israel Coalition and the Black Student League held its third-annual Kosher Soul Food Dinner yesterday in Houston Hall.

First African American mayor shares vision

Former Philadelphia Mayor Rev. Wilson Goode could easily rest on the laurels he has already attained, but this Philadelphia Inquirer 2006 Citizen of the Year says there is still a lot of work to be done. In light of the upcoming mayoral elections, Goode paid a visit to the Fels Institute of Government yesterday afternoon to speak about how far Philadelphia has come and where he sees the city going in the future.
