One week ago, Tyga was also revealed as a performer at Harvard’s version of Spring Fling, Yardfest.

Access to the Quadrangle building access will be restricted during Fling. According to Penn, the administration is trying to “curb the threat of underage or irresponsible drinking” and reduce the number of hospitalizations. I don’t think the new policy will be effective. In fact, I think it may have the opposite effect.

Elise A. Mitchell | A response to “Are you out there?”

Girl Talk, who specializes in mash-ups and sampling, regularly samples from music with lyrics that are equally as misogynistic Tyga’s. However, thus far there have been little to no complaints pertaining to the misogynistic nature of his samples. I cannot help but suspect that race is at the heart of this matter.

All interior Quad doors will be “inaccessible for entrance” or have AlliedBarton Security guards posted outside on the Friday and Saturday of Spring Fling.

Rapper Tyga will be coming to Penn on April 12 as the first Spring Fling opening artist. Tyga, born Michael Ray Nguyen-Stevenson, came to fame with songs like “Faded,” “Roger That” and the megahit “Rack City”.

Janelle Monae to open at Spring Fling concert

Janelle Monae is the first of three artists to be announced for Penn’s annual Spring Fling concert. Monae marks a turn from the electronic genre of last year’s Fling. She is known for her debut album The ArchAndroid, which earned her a nomination for best contemporary R&B album at the Grammys in 2011.
