The revised guidelines come after a semester at Penn that saw increased protests and tensions on campus, including an encampment on College Green that lasted sixteen days. The new guidelines explicitly ban encampments.
In the letter, six Congressional committee chairs stated that the investigation would focus on “the use of federal funds at Penn and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee" amid concerns over alleged antisemitism on campus.
In a May 24 motion obtained by The Daily Pennsylvanian, the University argues that the plaintiffs’ claims should be dismissed because their challenges are “premature.”
The endeavor — which was announced on May 29 — aims to improve research and teaching capabilities, and focuses on the application of AI and analytics in industry, research, academics, and society.
