From April 24-26, Franklin Field became a hub of athletes, spectators, and die-hard fans. The Daily Pennsylvanian captured the colorful carnival that was Penn Relays 2025.
On April 20th, the Penn community celebrated Holi, the vibrant Hindu festival marking the arrival of spring. Although Holi traditionally falls in March, the Penn community gathered in front of College Hall on a sunny April afternoon to partake in the festivities.

The historic Penn Relay Carnival is set to take place April 24-26 at Franklin Field. Penn Relays expanded significantly over the first few decades in terms of its participating schools. By 1920, Franklin Field was the permanent home of the Penn Relays. Explore how the crowds have changed over the years, particularly after the construction of the upper deck of the stadium in 1925.

The Social Planning and Events Committee hosted the 52nd annual Spring Fling on April 4 and 5. The concert took place at Penn Park on April 4 with a student DJ set from Shalabeatz — first year Engineering students and twin brothers Adam and Ali Shalabi. Singer-songwriter Jay Sean opened the show, and rapper and singer Sexyy Red was the headliner. The Spring Fling Daytime Festival took place on April 5. In 1879, Penn enrolled Black students for the first time in its history — William Adger, Nathan Francis Mossell, and James Brister. However, it wasn’t until national cries for equality during the civil rights movement of the 1960s that Penn began to dramatically increase the number of admitted Black students.
