DP does Dallas (Day 5)

DALLAS -- Wow. It's our last full day in Dallas and we couldn't leave without having a little bit of an adventure.

If you've been following along with us this weekend, you know that it's been raining the last couple of days. That has continued all day today. And since Dallas is flat and not near any real big sources of water, there are some floods.

We didn't do too much today except for watch the games at the American Airlines Center. Towards the end of the Texas-North Carolina State game, the P.A. announcer -- who was a little confused at times throughout the weekend -- told everyone to look up at the massive jumbotron to watch some important news information.

Apparently, some area roads were flooded, and they were going to keep the arena open so people could hang around. We decided to go for dinner at the Spaghetti Warehouse instead, and then tried to get back to the hotel. We had to abandon our cab about half a mile from the hotel and walk back the rest of the way through the flood because there was just nowhere else to go.

When we got back to the hotel, we found the basement flooded, as you can see here.

Then, when we walked up to our room (the elevators weren't on or working), we heard the following P.A. announcement -- There was no hot water, they had just restored cold water, and there is no room service, laundry or high-speed internet. We're really struggling here. OK, maybe not, but if we had to file stories from here, there might have been some trouble.

Now, it's off to the airport for a 6:20 a.m. flight. Thanks for keeping up with us.

Quote of the day:"I don't think we're going to be able to get up that far. You're going to have to walk some." -- The cab driver who took us back to our hotel tonight.

Number of basketball games watched:54 (eight mens games today and the Dartmouth/Rutgers women's game)

Stat of the day:
