The Wharton School announced a new AI Leadership Program featuring internet entrepreneur and LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman.
The six-week, live online program, which was announced in an Oct. 22 press release, will run from Jan. 27 to Feb. 25, 2025 out of the Aresty Institute of Executive Education. Hoffman will lead the first session, and faculty members from the Mack Institute and the Wharton AI & Analytics Initiative will lead the subsequent five sessions.
The program caters to senior executives and business leaders interested in AI within their industries, according to the statement. The program website highlights several key outcomes — including challenging conventional fears about AI, cultivating leadership skills to integrate AI, leveraging AI to enhance decision making, and evaluating the ethical implications of AI technologies.
The program’s Academic Director, Stefano Puntoni, said in the press release that the program is committed to preparing leaders for the correlated future relationship between human decisions and technology.
“Our goal is to equip executives with not just the insights but also the confidence to lead their organizations through this period of profound change," Puntoni said.
Some of the announced sessions include “The Promise and Pitfalls of AI in Business” with Professor Ethan Mollick, “Human Flourishing vs. Human Replacement” with Puntoni, and “The AI Stack Explained” with associate professor Lynn Wu.
Prospective participants are offered both Observer Participant and WAVE classroom options, according to the program website.
The Observer Participant option costs $1,500 and allows the participant to watch the sessions through a live stream. Participants will also get access to a Slack channel moderated by experts to discuss how the material can be applied to real-world scenarios.
The WAVE Classroom seat, which costs $9,900, allows the students to watch the professor lecture live through Zoom. There are 96 WAVE spots, and all prospective participants must complete an application to be considered. Once accepted, they are given the opportunity to join virtual networking coffee chats hosted by Wharton faculty members.
“Through this timely partnership with Wharton, our goal is to equip leaders with strategies to harness AI as a new form of intelligence aimed at extending human will and unlocking unprecedented potential,” Hoffman wrote in the press release.
