Rapper and singer Sexyy Red and singer-songwriter Jay Sean will perform at Penn’s 52nd annual Spring Fling concert.

The concert will take place at Penn Park at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 4 and will be followed by the Daytime Fling carnival on Saturday, April 5 from 12-5 p.m. Sexyy Red will headline the concert, and Jay Sean will open the show.

Penn’s Social Planning and Events Committee unveiled this year’s performers and theme — “Camp Fling” — at a reveal party in Houston Hall, which featured appearances from several student DJs.

Sexyy Red rose to fame in 2023 and has collaborated with artists including Tyler, the Creator, Drake, Bruno Mars, and GloRilla. The 26 year old’s discography includes a collection of three albums and over 30 singles — eight of which have landed spots on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.

In 2024, Sexyy Red won Best Breakthrough Hip Hop Artist at the 2024 BET Hip Hop Awards and was declared “one of the biggest breakout artists of summer 2023” by Billboard.

Jay Sean first rose to fame in the British music scene. His 2009 debut American single, “Down” featuring Lil Wayne, rose to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. His next hit, “Do You Remember” featuring Lil Jon and Sean Paul, has sold more than one million copies in the United States and also entered the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

This year’s Spring Fling marks the fourth in-person festival since the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2024, record producer Metro Boomin headlined the performance and singer-songwriter Daya opened.

Over 10,000 students attended the 2024 festival. Many attendees reported feeling uncomfortable and fearing for their safety — particularly in the entrance line and during the concert itself — due to a lack of adequate crowd control management. Several said they enjoyed the concert regardless.

Spring Fling has hosted a variety of performers over its 52 years, including Chance the Rapper, Flo Milli, and Kesha.

Penn students can purchase tickets for the concert online. The free Daytime Fling event on April 5 will include giveaways, food, student performances, and more.
