Happy Tuesday! There’s less than a week left before spring break — we’re in the home stretch!
Penn’s Board of Trustees discussed challenges facing the University at their annual winter stated meeting, and three Penn studies were selected for the Clinical Research Forum’s “Top Ten Clinical Research Achievement Awards” this year.
But first, The Daily Pennsylvanian interviewed Penn faculty members about the impact of artificial intelligence on course structures and curriculums.
In interviews with the DP, Penn professors discussed how AI has impacted the way they grade and teach. Some faculty members expressed concerns about AI-based plagiarism and spoke to the difficulty of identifying AI usage within student work.
In November 2023, Penn released a statement that established guidelines for AI usage across the University. While the guidelines supported students utilizing generative AI, they also stipulate a commitment to Penn’s mission.
“Penn embraces innovations like generative artificial intelligence (‘AI’) models in teaching, learning, research, and the effective stewardship of Penn’s resources,” the statement read.
The winter meeting of Penn’s Board of Trustees discussed challenges to higher education and approved tuition increases and financial aid expansions.
The City of Philadelphia will honor Sadie Tanner Mossell Alexander — the first Black woman to graduate from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School — with a statue.
The Anti-Defamation League gave Penn a “C” rating on the 2025 Campus Antisemitism Report Card — a slight improvement from last year's “D” rating.
Three studies from Penn’s Perelman School of Medicine were selected for the Clinical Research Forum’s “Top Ten Clinical Research Achievement Awards” this year.

In 2017, a student union called Graduate Employees Together — University of Pennsylvania announced its campaign in an online statement. This year — while discussing cuts to graduate admissions rates — a GET-UP organizer called the change a “misguided decision that will certainly harm Penn’s research and teaching mission.”
