A group of Penn Libraries staffers have officially formed a union, and the University pushed back against criticism of the Oct. 18 search of the off-campus residence of pro-Palestinian student activists.
But first, while Penn students may be gearing up to attend a party tonight, they shouldn't expect any registered daytime parties during Homecoming weekend.
Penn's fraternities have traditionally hosted daytime parties, colloquially known as "darties," throughout the weekend of Homecoming. However, this year, Locust Walk will no longer be lined with partygoers and loud music during Homecoming day, taking place on Nov. 16.
Penn has banned daytime parties from occurring during Homecoming Weekend, which some fraternity members allege is a move in favor of a University-sponsored tailgate event — prompting criticism and frustration from greek life leaders.
The University attributed the decision to new event protocols.
Penn strongly pushed back on criticism of its execution of a search warrant at an off-campus residence belonging to pro-Palestinian student activists as its city councilmember condemned the raid.
Penn Libraries United — a group of library staff members — has officially voted to unionize after their final vote count was certified last week.
Several students praised the increasing adoption of a "flipped classroom" model in computer science courses.
