Wharton sees steep apparent decline in students of color
New figures reveal a sharp decline in Wharton admitted students from races and ethnicities historically underrepresented in higher education.
The percentage of Wharton undergraduate students of color decreased by 13% for the Class of 2028, and the percentage of matriculants from historically underrepresented races and ethnicities dropped by 9% — significantly more than Penn’s overall 2% decrease. Statistics for Wharton’s admitted MBA classes suggest similar trends.
The Class of 2028 undergraduate data notes that it is limited to undergraduates pursuing single degrees through Wharton, while the Class of 2027 data does not include this notation, so it is unclear whether the school’s methodology for public demographic data has changed between both classes.

In 2020, the DP reported that students had fierce reactions to the presidential debate between 1968 Wharton graduate Donald Trump and former Penn Presidential Professor of Practice Joe Biden — labelling it “an avalanche of lies” that mostly came from Trump. Last month, the 2024 presidential debate took place not far from campus, and Penn once again saw Trump take the debate stage, watching from everywhere from Smokey Joe’s to Irvine Auditorium.

When you think of bees, you probably don’t picture a little wooden shed hidden betwixt tennis courts and train tracks. But this tiny cove at Penn Park is where Penn Beekeeping cultivates its three hives. Urban bees are far from abnormal — and they serve more to the community than just honey and pollination. The fate of the world rests on their tiny winged backs in the face of climate change, but these furry little guys are up for the job. As the world becomes increasingly industrialized, it becomes ever important to nourish nature’s little workers.
Penn students are masters of multitude, and recent grad INJI is no exception to the rule. Since finishing her undergraduate years, she has been consistently bringing fun back to music through her blend of traditional influences and deeply unserious themes in her lyrics. Music beat Maren Cohen reviews INJI’s latest EP, “WE GOOD,” reminding us all why we fell in love with this Whartonite’s wild songs.
