Over the weekend, Penn's soccer teams each battled it out on the recently renovated Rhodes Field, with the men's team earning a dominating victory over a Philadelphia rival. After falling short in last year's Ivy League tournament, the Quakers look primed to avenge their defeat.

Penn men's soccer cruises to 4-0 win over Temple

After defeating No. 3 ranked Pitt last week, the Quakers delivered a similarly stunning effort with a drubbing of the Owls.

Wasted chances headline Penn women's soccer's 1-1 draw to Towson
 
After drawing against Delaware in the last game of a long road trip, the Quakers returned home to Rhodes Field, but were unable to secure the season's first victory.

Penn rowing well-represented on podium at 2024 World Rowing Under 23 Championships

The Quakers sent eight athletes in a showing that heavyweight senior Sam Sullivan said "speaks to the quality" of Penn's program.

Not content with fourth: Penn field hockey has its eyes on an Ivy championship

After suffering a narrow defeat in last year's Ivy League tournament, field hockey coach Colleen Fink realized it was time for "radical change" in the program. Now, with those adjustments in place, the team has a title on their minds.

As the first few weeks of college football take the nation by storm, some of its oldest programs are left out of the fun. In this column, Sports Editor Walker Carnathan argues that the Ivy League should adopt the FCS-standard 11 games per season as a means to help the conference remain relevant in the evolving college landscape.

MEN'S SOCCER: No. 25 men's soccer (2-0) is undefeated following home wins over No. 3 Pitt and Temple, and has its sights set on an NCAA tournament run. [READ MORE]

WOMEN'S SOCCER: Women's soccer (0-3-3) is still seeking its first win of the season after a pair of weekend draws against Delaware and Towson. [READ MORE]

VOLLEYBALL: Volleyball (2-1) is off to a winning start after a tight win over Siena and a sweep of Mercyhurst. [READ MORE]
 
FIELD HOCKEY: Field Hockey (0-2) recently completed its yearly gauntlet of non-conference opponents, suffering losses to No. 2 North Carolina and No. 7 Louisville.
 
CROSS COUNTRY: Both men's and women's cross country opened their seasons at the New Jersey Jam last Friday, with the men's team placing fourth out of five teams and the women's team placing second out of five, highlighted by freshman L'Mio Edwards' fourth-place finish.

GOLF: Men's golf opened its season at the Alex Lagowitz Memorial Invitational last weekend, finishing sixth out of 15 teams. The women's team began at the Bucknell Invitational, winning first place while senior Debby Chang took home the individual title.

FOOTBALL: Football, which was voted third in the Ivy League preseason poll, will begin its season on the road at Delaware on Sept. 21.

TENNIS: Penn women's tennis will begin its season by hosting the Penn Invitational on Sept. 13, while the men's team will host its own version of the same event a week later on Sept. 20.

SPRINT FOOTBALL: Sprint football will kick off its season on the road at Saint Thomas Aquinas on Sept. 21.
 
STAT OF THE WEEK: The last time volleyball began a season 2-1 or better was 2021, when the Quakers opened the season 3-0.
