Good morning, Penn.

Welcome back to Quaker Nation, Penn's premier sports newsletter.

The wait is over: Football is back on the menu. Penn football returned to the gridiron, and while it showed flashes at times, the final score ultimately was not in favor of the Red and Blue. Back at home, the Quakers saw much more success as men's and women's soccer — as well as volleyball — recorded wins.

Start your week with the latest stories from DP Sports:

The Red and Blue return to the gridiron: Despite holding a 10-point lead heading into the halftime break, Penn football was unable to stop Delaware in the second half to lose its season opener 29-22.

Finally, a first win: In the team's ninth game of the season, Penn women's soccer was finally able to notch its first win of the season with a 4-0 rout of Temple.

A much-needed bounce back: After its undefeated season ended against VCU, No. 11 Penn men's soccer returned home to beat Manhattan 1-0
