Good morning, Penn.

Welcome back to Quaker Nation, Penn's premier sports newsletter.

The count down to football season has begun. But before we can look a head at what will be happening this Saturday, let's do a quick check-in with Penn's other fall sports.

The scoreline of the weekend seems to be 3-1 as both No. 15 Penn men's soccer and field hockey took down their opponents from this past week with this result. But while volleyball seems to have figured things out over the offseason, women's soccer is still looking for its first win of the season.

Start your week with the latest stories from DP Sports:

The Quakers show continues: Rising to No. 15 in the polls, men's soccer extends its unbeaten streak with a 3-1 win over Fordham before going on the road to take down William & Mary 2-0.

Back to winning ways: In the team's home opener, Penn field hockey handled its business against cross-city rivals Temple to earn its first win of the season 3-1.

A much-improved start: After winning just four matches last year, Penn volleyball has already hit that same mark despite having only played seven games thus far.

VOLLEYBALL
For sophomore Zada Sanger, volleyball wasn't always the dream

The Red and Blue are a part of sophomore outside hitter Zada Sanger's DNA — her mom and dad were members of the volleyball and men's basketball programs respectively. However, Sanger is eager to start creating her own legacy as a Quaker, starting with turning around a volleyball program that has struggled in recent years.

SCHOOL SPIRIT
Carnathan | School day games and greater support for student-athletes

Balancing sports with academics is a struggle for most athletes, regardless of where they go to school. It's even harder when the school doesn't provide the necessary support for an athlete to thrive. Such is the case at Penn, where the volleyball team had to take a day off from classes to travel to Baltimore. Sports Editor Walker Carnathan argues his case that Penn should be providing more support for its student-athletes.
