Biden's post-presidency plans: Returning to Penn

After former Penn professor and President Joe Biden left the Penn Biden Center for the campaign trail in 2019, the University-affiliated global think tank's fate has been up in the air. But on Wednesday, he opened up a new possibility: coming back to the Penn Biden Center to work on foreign policy after he leaves the White House. 

“I’m less concerned about what my legacy is … because there’s so many other things I want to do in terms of the Biden Institute at Penn on foreign policy and the Biden Institute in Delaware on domestic policy, to keep the things going that we started,” Biden said in an interview with "The View."

   After Penn Carey Law professor Amy Wax's sanctioning on Monday for her discriminatory remarks, some Penn community members felt relieved, while others expressed concern about the future of free speech. 

  In an ongoing lawsuit, Penn cited its Office of Religious and Ethnic Inclusion as evidence of “significant additional steps” it was taking in response to on-campus antisemitism only four days after it was formed.

In 2018, the DP reported that President Joe Biden — then a former vice president and Professor of Presidential Practice — participated in a dialogue event through the Perry World House about unity and global order. Recently, Biden said in an interview that he could potentially return to Penn and the Penn Biden Center to continue his work in foreign policy.
