Good morning, Penn.

2016 College graduate Alina Grabowski discussed her debut novel at the Kelly Writers House on Monday, and two second-year Ph.D. candidates in the School of Nursing have been selected to take part in a leadership program.

But first, Penn officially dropped to 10th in this year's U.S. News college rankings — and the DP looked at the reasoning behind the drop.

A look into Penn's U.S. News rankings drop

Penn officially dropped to No. 10 in the U.S. News & World Report’s annual Best National University rankings, which were officially released Sept. 24. This is Penn's lowest position since 1997.

The Daily Pennsylvanian previously reported on the preliminary rankings that were released two weeks ago, which also showed that Penn is ranked No. 4 among Ivy League schools.

The DP looked into some potential reasons behind the drop — including higher average cost after aid and higher debt after graduation. The number of fraternities on campus has also sharply declined.

Neon pixel backdrops, confetti bombs, and an inflatable cat on stage left mark the early internet aesthetic of DJ Porter Robinson’s world tour. The SMILE! XD tour brings together the entire discography of Robinson’s work into one show, a true delight for any and all fans of the artist’s work. With stunning, inventive visuals and, of course, the pumping music alongside them, this piece takes you through the night of a SMILE! XD show.

With a stacked roster of the original actors and new, talented additions, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice appears to be a promising sequel to its predecessor. Combined with a Tim Burton back to his peak pre-2000s era, the film is a fun romp through the underworld — but that is perhaps all it is. The bits are fun, the girls are weird, and Michael Keaton brings the same energy he did nearly four decades ago, but beneath the wacky aesthetics is a narrative nightmare. This sequel of an ‘80s classic begs the question: Can the magic be recreated, or is it nothing more than nostalgia-based nonsense?
