The Penn Squash Center has a legacy of its own in the squash world, making it a fitting home for the newest men's collegiate champions.

Penn lightweight rowing accused of racism

Content warning: This article contains mentions of racial discrimination against Black people and racial slurs that can be disturbing and/or triggering for some readers.

Eight individuals close to the Penn rowing program described a pattern of racist remarks made by members of the men’s lightweight rowing team, as well as an allegedly inadequate response to these incidents by the University.

SQUASH
One of the best squash facilities in the nation

Originally built in 1958, the Penn Squash Center has been home to both the Penn men’s and women’s squash programs for over half a century. After undergoing extensive renovations at the end of 2019, the center is one of the top squash facilities in the entire nation. 
   

TRACK AND FIELD
Siblings take on Penn throwing together

Hailing from upstate New York, Penn track and field throwers Scott and Alexa Dochat are one of just many sibling pairs that compete together for the Red and Blue. The two's shared history have shaped much of their time both competing and at Penn in general.

ROWING
The 'beacon' is driven by competition

Junior heavyweight rower Sam Sullivan, often known by his nickname the “Beacon,” started rowing relatively late but has not let that stop him from striving for greatness. Since coming to Penn, Sullivan has his sights very much set on rowing at the Olympics.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
A storybook ending for Kayla Padilla

The former Penn women's basketball star guard completed her collegiate career with resounding team success at the University of Southern California.

Unable to play out her final year of collegiate eligibility in the Ivy League, Padilla took her talents home to take the court for the Trojans. In a season that saw USC make a deep run into March Madness as a No. 1 seed, Padilla was able to wrap up her career leaving no regrets.

MEN'S BASKETBALL
Drake sophomore guard to transfer to Penn

In an offseason that has seen Penn men’s basketball lose two of its starting guards to the transfer portal, Drake men’s basketball sophomore guard Ethan Roberts announcing his commitment to Penn is welcome news. 

The former Patriot League Rookie of the Year averaged 12.4 points per game, shooting 47.6% from the field and 40.7% from beyond the arc, to go along with 4.4 rebounds and 1.2 assists a game while playing for Army.

MEN'S LACROSSE: No. 13 Penn men's lacrosse (8-5, 4-2 Ivy) closed out its regular season with a loss to No. 17 Princeton but will take the field again in the Ivy League tournament. [READ MORE]
 
WOMEN'S LACROSSE: No. 14 Penn women's lacrosse (11-3, 4-2 Ivy) secured its spot in the Ivy League tournament. [READ MORE]
 
MEN'S SWIMMING: Diving junior breaststroker Matt Fallon took first place at the TYR Pro Series, set a meet record, and beat a longtime foe. [READ MORE]
 
BASEBALL: Penn baseball (15-20, 7-8 Ivy) dropped its second straight Ivy League series 2-1 to Princeton, losing the series decider 3-1.
 
SOFTBALL: Penn softball (8-25, 2-13 Ivy) was swept by Harvard this past weekend — the Quakers have only won one series this season.
 
TRACK AND FIELD: Penn track and field senior Bella Whittaker has secured her spot in the U.S. Olympic Trials; junior pole vaulter James Rhoads took first place at the Mt. SAC Relays with a jump that sets him up to potentially qualify.
 
GOLF: At the Ivy League Championships, men's golf finished in fourth while women's golf took home third.
 
TENNIS: Women's tennis (17-7, 5-2 Ivy) beat No. 38 Harvard at home with a score of 4-2 while men's tennis (16-12, 2-5) concluded its regular season with a win against Dartmouth.
 
STAT OF THE WEEK: Women's lacrosse senior midfielder Erika Chung's eight assists in the team's win against Brown sets a new program single-game record.
