Beware! The ides of March has arrived. I'll be keeping an eye out and stabbing my Grommons chicken Caesar salad with a little extra vigor today.

In other news, Penn's Presidential Commission on Countering Hate and Building Community outlined its early findings and released preliminary recommendations to the community, and Penn Democrats hosted City Councilmember At-Large Katherine Gilmore Richardson at an event in Huntsman Hall on Wednesday night.

But first, the Freedom School for Palestine created a petition demanding that the University drop the disciplinary charges that were filed against five of its members for the Feb. 19 study-in at Van Pelt Library.

Freedom School for Palestine calls for disciplinary cases to be dropped

In a petition addressed to Interim Penn President Larry Jameson, University life leaders, and Penn administrators at large, the Freedom School for Palestine is urging Penn to dismiss the disciplinary charges filed against five of its members. 

The petition further criticizes University administration and argues that their attempts "to chill pro-Palestinian activism and censor speech that its billionaire donors disapprove of" constitute a “blatant abuse of power.”

In 2020, the DP reported that Penn women's basketball took home both Ivy League Rookie of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year from the Ivy League's women's basketball postseason awards. This year, three Penn women’s basketball players received All-Ivy awards for their performances: freshman guard Mataya Gayle was named Rookie of the Year, senior forward Jordan Obi was named to the First Team All-Ivy squad, and junior guard Stina Almqvist secured a spot on the Second Team All-Ivy.
