Jen Ciaccio was appointed Penn's Executive Director of College Houses and Academic Services on Jan. 31.

Ciaccio formerly served as Senior Director for Academic and Residential Programs and succeeds Karu Kozuma, who now serves as Vice Provost for University Life. Ciaccio — who previously worked in residential life at Temple University and Penn State University — will work to enhance the academic and residential experiences at Penn.

Provost John Jackson Jr. said that he was "delighted" to announce Ciaccio's appointment in his status report at a Jan. 31 University Council meeting.

"Jen brings to this role a wealth of experience working with our great Penn students and staff in the College Houses and in residential life at Temple and Penn State, among other universities," Jackson said.

Ciaccio also wrote in a LinkedIn post in January that she is "THRILLED" to be entering the new position and that the University is now seeking applications for a new Senior Director for Academic and Residential Programs.

Ciaccio received a bachelor's degree from Millikin University, a master's degree from Indiana State University, and a doctorate from Temple in 2019, according to her LinkedIn.

Kozuma began his role as Senior Director of University Life in 2021, succeeding Mamta Accapadi in a permanent capacity. Prior to his appointment, Senior Associate Vice Provost for Student Affairs Tamara Greenfield King served as Interim Vice Provost for University Life.

Kozuma was announced as the University's next Vice Provost for University Life in February 2023, and began his position in May 2023.

"We are confident that Karu will be an outstanding partner to all of us in leading our university life initiatives in the years ahead,” Deputy Provost Beth Winkelstein wrote at the time.
