Five floods in Harrison and Quad dorms damage, displace

A frozen pipe due to an open window caused flooding in twenty-six suites of Harrison College House from the first to seventh floors, and the Quad experienced flooding in the Leidy, Franklin, Brookes, Speakman, and Butcher halls. A flood remediation company outside of the University was called in to begin the drying and repair process, and the affected students were offered temporary housing in the Sheraton and Sansom Place West.

  1. Eighteen months after the Philadelphia 76ers announced plans to construct a new arena near Chinatown, the DP checked in on its status — and the efforts of protestors and community organizers opposing its construction.
  2. Former chair of the University Board of Trustees Scott Bok spoke out in an opinion column published in the DP, warning that the next presidential search will be different than previous ones after last semester's turmoil "shattered" the idea of broadly shared values across the University.
