Good morning, Penn.

Happy Wednesday, and happy last day of January!

United States Marshals captured the murder suspect who escaped from police custody at CHOP last week after a four-day search. And in welcome news for commuters, Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro announced a proposal for over $280 million in new SEPTA and public transportation funding.

But first, the DP took a look at Penn's most cited researchers.

In 2017, the DP reported that then-University of Pennsylvania Carey Law Dean Ted Ruger released a statement condemning 1968 Wharton graduate and former President Donald Trump's executive order barring immigration from six majority-Muslim countries. Trump is now on the path to securing another presidential nomination.

FROM 34TH STREET MAGAZINE

  1. Having participated in a roundtable discussion with director Emerald Fennell (so cool, right?), Street walks through Fennell’s artistic vision for the film and its hyper-specific casting process. There is more to Oliver and Felix’s story than a gaudy mansion and a danceable early 2000s soundtrack. Fennell always intended for audiences to react to "Saltburn" … and that is exactly what we did.
  2. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing your favorite artist getting the recognition they deserve (Street does not condone gatekeeping). Street follows Asheville, N.C.-bred MJ Lenderman’s rise to fame, from a North Philadelphia loading dock performance to a deal with ANTI- Records.

FROM UNDER THE BUTTON

  1. This time of year can be difficult for returning students, and is exasperated only by unnecessary bureaucracy inflicting its cruel whip upon our meagre pleasures. UTB reports on how this has come to affect our most cherished institution — ACME — as foods across the world are thrown into geographic disarray. Read more about how we are fixing the situation.
