Good morning, Penn!


Hi there! My name is Vidya, and I'll be your Tuesday morning newsletter anchor this year. 

It's looking like it's going to be quite rainy after today, so make sure to get outside and enjoy this (semi) warmth while you can. 

The University of Pennsylvania Health System announced that it will integrate with Doylestown Health in an effort to provide high-quality health care in the Philadelphia area.
 Also, The Daily Pennsylvanian collected some details on the progress of the various construction and renovation projects across campus — including incoming first-year reactions to the Quad.

First, let's start with a rally organized by the American Association of University Professors, which saw over 100 community members gather in front of College Hall to oppose donor influence, an alleged lack of transparency regarding University policies, and academic censorship.

Over 100 community members protest donor intervention at AAUP rally

Community members gathered in front of College Hall to protest what they described as donor intervention in the policies and practices at the University. The American Association of University Professors, which organized the rally, also had rally-goers listen to speeches on academic freedom, open expression, and transparency from administration.

In 2007, the DP reported on a bilingual citizens' forum, which was part of a citywide initiative aimed at increasing diversity in conversation on local issues ahead of the mayoral elections. This fall, Penn alumna Cherelle Parker was elected as Philadelphia's first female mayor.
