The newly appointed chair of the Board of Trustees spoke to The Daily Pennsylvanian in an exclusive Q&A, and the African American Resource Center continues to host events at for its 29th annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Symposium on social change — and those in Philly can expect warmer days ahead as we trade out snow for a week of rain.

But first, 800 rising juniors and seniors were waitlisted for on-campus housing, and Penn seniors offered advice on navigating the off-campus housing search.

More students than last year left without on-campus housing

Approximately 500 rising juniors and 300 rising seniors were notified in December that they were placed on a waitlist for on-campus housing — as, unlike first-year and sophomore students, upperclassmen are not guaranteed on-campus housing. Students who spoke with the DP expressed concern about having unclear housing plans heading into the 2024-25 school year.

Four Penn seniors offer advice about off-campus housing

​Many of the rising upperclassmen who did not secure one of the approximately 950 on-campus housing slots will look for off-campus for their housing for the upcoming academic year. Current seniors shared insight from their own experiences finding and living in the areas surrounding campus.
