College Green was transformed into a canvas of color on Friday, as the Penn community celebrated Holi. From students dancing together to sparking the air with shades of red, green, and yellow: here’s a glimpse into how the Penn community joined in the festivities of Holi, in photos.

Holi, a Hindu festival commemorating the arrival of spring, is known as the “Festival of Colors.”

The Penn Hindu & Jain Association, in collaboration with the class board, orchestrated the event — showcasing student performing arts groups, a DJ, and a colorful finale.

Several performing arts groups, including Penn Thillana, Penn Dhamaka, and PENNaach, showcased their dance skills with music selections spanning from Bollywood to Tollywood.

After the dance performances, bags of colorful powder were distributed amongst the attendees, which were used to sprinkle vibrant hues, in a jubilant display.

With their fresh bags of colored powder, students participated in a unified throwing of colors that symbolize the bonds of unity, the exultation of joy, and the spirit of celebration.
