A man was stabbed this morning at the 34th Street SEPTA Station, in what according to SEPTA officials appeared to be a domestic dispute.
Occurring only two blocks from campus, the incident began as an altercation between a man and his girlfriend. Another individual reportedly intervened and was subsequently punched and stabbed by the boyfriend.
The victim — suffering a wound to the shoulder — was transported to a nearby hospital and is expected to recover.
Several other violent encounters have occurred on and near Penn’s campus over the last year, including a Filipino lawyer shot dead in an Uber at 38th and Spruce streets this summer and two men shot at 38th and Chestnut streets in December.
Police are currently investigating the stabbing incident, and SEPTA police are reviewing surveillance footage to gather information about the suspect. The train system is operating as usual.
