This week's crime log included multiple thefts from Wawa.

Retail Theft:

Jan. 20: The complainant reported that three suspects entered the Wawa on 36th and Chestnut streets, took merchandise and put it into backpacks, and then left the store without paying. The incident occurred at about 3:24 p.m.

Jan. 22: The complainant reported that two suspects entered the Wawa at 37th and Spruce streets, took merchandise from behind the counter and then left the store without paying. The incident occurred at about 5:32 p.m.

Other Theft:

Jan. 21: The suspect was observed removing packages from multiple front porches. Upon investigation it was determined the packages did not belong to the defendant. The thefts occurred around the 200 block of 42nd street at approximately 2:27 p.m. The suspect is Ronald Lawrence, a 58-year-old male who is unaffiliated with Penn. Lawrence has been arrested. 

Fraud:

Jan. 19: The complainant reported providing a deposit check for an apartment rental before discovering that the suspect is not authorized to rent the apartment. The suspect has not returned the payment. The incident occurred at 3939 Chestnut St. at approximately 9:00 a.m.

Indecent Assault:

Jan. 18: At approximately 2:17 a.m., Philadelphia and Penn Police responded to the report of an indecent assault in the Cira Center Parking Garage located at 129 S. 30th St. When they arrived, police met with the unaffiliated complainant who stated that a suspect approached her in the parking garage elevator and touched her without permission. The suspect then fled garage and was apprehended by police inside of 30th Street Station. The suspect is Jeffrey Smith, a 34-year-old unaffiliated male. Smith has since been arrested.

DUI: 

Jan. 18: Police responded to an accident at the intersection of University Avenue and Civic Blvd at 12:41a.m. Upon investigation, the driver was found to be slurring her words, walking with an unsteady gait, and with an odor of alcohol on her breath. The suspect was 26-year-old unaffiliated female, Marita Reed. Reed was arrested.

Terroristic Threats: 

Jan. 20: The complainant reported receiving an anonymous threatening letter at his place of employment. The event occurred at 3600 Civic Center Blvd at 12:05 p.m.
