The offenses finally got going after a slow start.
Penn football leads Brown, 21-19, at halftime at Franklin Field.
The Quakers (2-4, 0-3 Ivy) started off the game with a few promising drives, but they all eventually fizzled out, resulting in four Penn punts to begin the game.
On the other side, the Penn defense has impressed so far, having recorded five sacks on Brown (1-5, 0-3 Ivy) quarterback EJ Perry. The defense broke on one play, however, allowing Perry to run 50 yards untouched for a touchdown on a keeper for the first score of the game. He scored again again in the second, this time on a three-yard run.
In the second quarter, the Quakers turned their offense around, as senior running back Abe Willows capped off a seven-play, 69-yard drive with a one-yard dive into the end zone to begin the second. Willows later scored again after Penn forced a Brown fumble.
The Red and Blue completed a second-quarter touchdown trifecta when sophomore wide receiver Ryan Cragun ran in a Nick Robinson pass from 24 yards out. Cragun is having a solid afternoon thus far, with nine receptions for 120 yards and the aforementioned score.
Star senior running back Karekin Brooks has not entered the game for Penn yet, although he is suited up and watching from the sideline. In Brooks’ absence, the Quakers have struggled on the ground, managing only 29 yards on 14 carries.
Coming out of the locker room at halftime, Penn will look to put Brown away and secure its first Ivy League win of the season.
