
Fraud:
Sept. 27: The complainant reported that an unknown person called her and told her to purchase gift cards in order to protect her back accounts. The incident occurred at Hill College House at about 5:00 p.m.
Fire Incident:
Oct. 2: The Division of Public Safety responded to a fire alarm caused by a kitchen fire at W.E.B. Du Bois College House at about 5:40 p.m. A food item had burned in a microwave and caused heavy smoke. Penn Police, Fire and Emergency Services, and Philadelphia Fire Department responders ventilated the area and residents were allowed to return. No damage to property or injuries was reported.
Sex Offense:
Sept. 29: A confidential rape case was reported on the 3700 block of Spruce Street at about 10 p.m.
Assault:
Sept. 30: A confidential case of domestic assault was reported on the 3900 block of Walnut Street at about 2:35 a.m. The 40-year-old unaffiliated male suspect, Emmanuel Mathis, was arrested.
Oct. 3: The complainant reported that an unidentified suspect slapped him across his face while walking along the street at the intersection of 34th and Walnut streets at about 5:38 p.m.
Vandalism:
Sept. 30: The complainant reported that a glass pane in an exterior window was broken at the School of Social Policy and Practice, located at 3815 Walnut St., at about 5:00 p.m.
Burglary:
Sept. 29: The complainant found missing items from his property after returning home. The rear door was found to be open, but there were no signs of forced entry. The incident occurred at 4103 Locust St. at about 8:00 p.m.
Defiant Trespass:
Oct. 2: The complainant reported the suspect was warned numerous times that he was not permitted in the building without a legitimate reason for being there. The 52-year-old unaffiliated male suspect, Daren Burton, was given a citation for defiant trespass. The incident occurred at the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine, located at 3400 Civic Center Blvd. at about 8:39 a.m.
Bike Theft:
Sept. 27: A Penn Police bait bicycle was removed from its secured location by two juvenile suspects. The incident occurred at the intersection of 40th and Spruce streets at about 7:58 p.m., and the two juvenile suspects were arrested.
Theft from Building:
Sept. 28: The complainant reported that his unattended property was missing from the lounge area at Levine Hall, located at 3330 Walnut St., at about 11:40 a.m.
Sept. 28: The complainant reported that cash was missing from her bag at Pottruck Health and Fitness Center at about 5:10 p.m.
Oct. 1: The complainant reported his unattended property to be missing from an unsecured area at Towne Building at about 5:00 p.m.
Retail Theft:
Sept. 28: The complainant reported that the suspect removed items from the CVS at 3925 Walnut St. without paying. The incident occurred at about 8:37 a.m.
Other Theft:
Sept. 30: The complainant reported a theft in progress at the Facilities and Real Estate Services building, located at 3101 Walnut St. Police identified the suspect and found that he had stolen property in his possession. The incident occurred at about 10:10 p.m. and the 57-year-old unaffiliated male suspect, Jeffrey Brown, was arrested.
