It’s a tight one here at the Palestra.
Through 20 minutes of action, the Red and Blue lead Rice 37-35. Penn raced out to an early 17-7 lead through the first few minutes of action, but the Owls showed that they wouldn’t go away.
Rice answered this early run by the Quakers with one of its own, closing the half strongly, and even taking a one-point lead with 1:30 late in the first half. However, Penn capped off the first half with a bang. With just a few seconds remaining, senior guard Jake Silpe jumped the passing lane and stole the ball for an easy layup at the other end to give Penn a two-point lead.
Leading the way for the Quakers has been junior forward AJ Brodeur, who has filled up the statsheet with 10 points, four rebounds, and three assists. His counterpart, graduate transfer Jack Williams, has been a spark for Rice, scoring nine points while shooting 4-for-6 from the field.
