Winner: Penn Football
Penn won this Saturday’s homecoming game against Brown 21-14. With this win, Penn football remains undefeated in the Ivy League.
Loser: Philadelphians
As of Tuesday, 5,000 SEPTA workers are on strike, shutting down subway, bus and trolley routes. Over 400,000 people will be affected by the strike, including Philadelphia voters if the strike lasts until election day. However, Regional Rail will remain unaffected, as these routes are manned by a different union.
Winner: First generation, low income students
On Thursday, Penn First’s First Generation, Low Income Center opened its doors, located in the Greenfield Intercultural Center. The FGLI Center, only the second of its kind in the Ivy League, provides FGLI students with resources including a donation-based food pantry and a textbook library.
Loser: Students planning to attend Penn-Princeton
Due to increased security measures at this year’s Penn-Princeton football game, many of Penn’s Greek organizations have decided against attending the game at Princeton. This heightened security is in response to the supposedly disruptive behavior of Penn students at past games and will include a separate tailgating section for Penn students, possible ID checks and breathalyzer tests.
Winner: Penn Sprint Football
After a 27-20 victory over Cornell on Friday, Penn Sprint Football has earned a share of Collegiate Sprint Football League title. This win saw eight seniors winning their first title and Coach Bill Wagner winning his fifth.
