Stephanie Marchesani, a part-time School of Nursing graduate student, “died suddenly in New Jersey” on Sunday, according to an email statement sent out to the Nursing graduate community from the Vice Provost of University Life Valarie Swain-Cade McCoullum and School of Nursing Dean Antonia Villarruel.

Marchesani was 30 years old and had been working since 2008 as a full-time registered nurse at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

She was also a part-time master’s student in the School of Nursing, enrolled in the Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program. Marchesani earned her undergraduate degree in Nursing from Temple University, the email said.

No cause of death was included in the statement and the University has not yet received information from the family about memorial services, according to the email.

In the meantime, a support session for classmates in her cohort will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 13, in the School of Nursing at 12 p.m. in Room 118.
