When Cornell University welcomed its Class of 2020 in August, it also welcomed the youngest student to ever attend the school—a twelve-year-old from Texas.
The home-schooled son of two aerospace engineers, Jeremy Shuler has achieved a number of impressive accomplishments, the Guardian reported. At two years old, he was reading in different languages. By six, he understood calculus and since ten he has scored highly on national exams.
Shuler's family has relocated to Ithaca, a decision in which Cornell engineering dean, Lance Collins, took comfort. While Collins is excited to see what Jeremy can do with his education and skills, he is also glad “[Jeremy] has a nice, safe environment in terms of growing up.”
Shuler expressed excitement and called his courses simple thus far, according to the Guardian.
