Ithaca College student Anthony Nazaire, 19, was killed on Cornell University's campus early Sunday morning.
Nazaire, who was from Brooklyn, N.Y., was a sophomore at Ithaca pursuing a degree in business administration, according to a statement from Ithaca president Tom Rochon. Rochon also said that Nazaire was on the executive board of Brothers4Brothers, an organization that worked to empower men of color at Cornell.
He was one of two Ithaca students stabbed in front of Cornell's Olin Hall just before 2:00 a.m. The other student, according to the Cornell Daily Sun, was treated for non-fatal injuries after being flown to Upstate Medical Center and has been released from the hospital.
The Daily Sun also reported that the tragedy came at the end of an event hosted by the Omega Psi Phi fraternity.
The Ithaca Police Department has opened a homicide investigation and have located the weapon used.
