A woman was shot Wednesday on the Danforth campus of Washington University in St. Louis. The victim, Jessica Moore, was shot in the forearm while in her car.
Her injuries are not believed to be life threatening according to a statement by Vice Chancellor for Public Affairs Jill Friedman to Student Life.
The shooting occurred at 1:30 p.m. near the Mallinckrodt Center, the University’s student union and performing arts building. The campus was on lockdown until 2:46 p.m.
Police were looking for a man driving a black SUV who they believe fired the shots at the victim’s car. Clayton Police Chief Kevin Murphy said to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that the police are investigating the shooting as an incident of road rage and do not believe it is related to Washington University.
Moore is an employee of Café Bon Appétit in the Washington University School of Medicine.
This was Washington University’s third gun-related incident in recent weeks.
