Junior guard Matt Howard has led the way for the Quakers, scoring 11 points on 5-8 shooting

Well, this is a pleasant surprise.

At halftime, Penn men’s basketball trails Ivy-League leading Yale by only five points as the Eli lead, 37-32. The Red and Blue have played effective defense and have gotten impressive offensive performances from Matt Howard and Darien Nelson-Henry.

The Bulldogs were undefeated in Ivy play – winning each contest by an average of 14 points – until they were defeated by Princeton at Jadwin Gym 75-63 Friday night.

Yale forward Justin Sears – the defending Ivy Player of the Year – co-leads all players with 13 points while senior forward Brandon Sherrod has matched him with 13 of his own.

If Penn were to win, they would move above .500 in Ivy play for the first time this season.
