Harvard College’s Undergraduate Council has officially started accepting applications for the "Open Harvard College" grant.
The grant of up to $30,000 is allotted to any initiative that works towards the alleviation of one or more “compelling interests," namely mental health, sexual assault and harassment, race relations and social spaces.
While its predecessor, the "Bridging and Belonging" grant, received an underwhelming response, the "Open Harvard College" grant is expected to be more positively received, as the Student Relations Committee intends to undertake extensive efforts to publicize this initiative. It believes that public awareness, or the lack thereof, was the primary cause for the 'Bridging and Belonging' grant's disappointing reception.
The committee, which is working in tandem with the Undergraduate Council, is hoping to find radical, collaborative initiatives amongst various student bodies and interest groups in order to work towards the mitigation of these issues.
