A student at the University of Illinois Chicago has been arrested after sexually assaulting a female classmate in his dorm room. Mohammad Hossain, 19, claims that he was reenacting scenes from the recently released “50 Shades of Grey” movie.
Prosecutors say that what began as a consensual encounter turned to sexual assault when Hossain used a belt to tie the female student’s hands over her head and to the bed. Assistant State’s Attorney Sarah Karr told the Chicago Tribune that Hossain also tied together the woman’s legs, stuffed a necktie into her mouth, and covered her eyes with a knit hat. Hossain is accused of repeatedly striking the woman with a belt and with his hands and sexually assaulting her while she pleaded for him to stop.
The woman left the dorm room and later reported the assault to police. Hossain was arrested on campus. His bail has been set at $500,000.
