Danielle Bassett, an assistant professor in the Department of Bioengineering, was named a MacArthur Foundation Fellow on Wednesday. Bassett is one of 21 MacArthur Fellows awarded a no-strings-attached grant of $625,000, commonly referred to as a genius grant.
According to her MacArthur Fellow profile, Bassett is a physicist who examines the human brain through the lens of network science and complex systems theory. Her topics of research include how brain networks are modified over time through memory and language processing.
Last year, psychology professor Angela Duckworth was named a MacArthur Fellow for 2013.
