Crime Log: Nov. 22 to Nov. 26

DUI:

Nov. 22, 2013: An unaffiliated 50-year-old male was arrested after he was involved in a motor vehicle accident on the 3700 block of Market Street at around 9:50 p.m. When approached, the male was found to have a strong odor of alcohol, slurred speech and glassy eyes.

Nov. 24, 2013: An unaffiliated 47-year-old male was arrested after he was involved in a motor vehicle accident on 33rd and Walnut streets at around 1:36 a.m. When approached, the male was found to have a strong odor of alcohol, slurred speech and glassy eyes.

Retail Theft:

Nov. 23, 2013: An unaffiliated 52-year-old male was arrested at the CVS at 3925 Walnut St. at around 6:53 p.m. after he was observed concealing merchandise in his jacket and attempting to leave the store without paying for the items.

Nov. 24, 2013: An unaffiliated 21-year-old female was arrested at American Apparel (3661 Walnut St.) at around 3:22 p.m. when she was observed removing merchandise from the store without paying for it.

Theft from Building:

Nov. 26, 2013: An affiliated 18-year-old male reported at the Quadrangle at around 1:30 a.m. that an unknown person had removed his cash box from a secured cabinet. The cabinet could be opened wide enough so that the cash box could be removed without unlocking the cabinet.

Nov. 26, 2013: An affiliated 18-year-old female reported at the Penn Bookstore at around 6:37 p.m. that her phone, which was placed in her pocket, was no longer on her when she left the bookstore.

Weapons:

Nov. 23, 2013: An unaffiliated 24-year-old male was arrested at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania at 2:27 p.m. after he returned to retrieve a firearm that was found in his room after he was discharged from the hospital. The firearm was turned over to the police after the housekeeper discovered it. The male was charged with carrying a firearm without a license and carrying a firearm without a license on public property in Philadelphia.

Sex Offense:

Nov. 23, 2013: A confidential sex offense was reported on the 3700 block of Locust Walk.

Assault:

Nov. 24, 2013: An unaffiliated 44-year-old female patient assaulted two nurses — a 38-year-old female and a 55-year-old-male — at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

Nov. 25, 2013: A domestic assault was reported.

Harassment:

Nov. 25, 2013: A confidential harassment was reported.

Burglary:

Nov. 26, 2013: An affiliated 21-year-old male reported at 5:30 p.m. that an unknown person tried to gain entry to 3948 Delancey St. by breaking in the back door. The person did not manage to enter and nothing was taken.

Disorderly Conduct:

Nov. 26, 2013: A citation was issued at 5:51 p.m. to an unaffiliated 25-year-old male who was part of a disorderly crowd on the 300 block of N. 40th Street, obstructing the highway and sidewalk. The male was told to disperse three times but refused. He was cited and released.
