There’s someone new in charge of Wharton undergraduates.
The Wharton School announced on June 5 that Georgette Phillips was stepping down from her position as vice dean of Wharton undergraduate programs. Simon and Midge Palley Professor of Management Lori Rosenkopf will take Phillips’ office on July 1.
Phillips, who has held the position since 2003, will move into working with the Dean of Technology Enhanced Learning and with reaccreditation efforts until the end of the calendar year.
Some of the accomplishments under her tenure include a new concentration in Social Impact and Social Entrepreneurship for Wharton undergraduates, a redesign of the intermediate microeconomics class and capstone courses for seniors, according to an email sent to Wharton undergraduates by Dean Thomas Robertson and Deputy Dean Michael Gibbons.
Rosenkopf — who has worked at Wharton since 1993 — was selected and appointed to fill Phillips’ position by Robertson and Gibbons. Her research interests include “examin[ing] technological communities and social networks across several high-tech industries,“ according to the Wharton website.
In the email, Robertson and Gibbons lauded Rosenkopf, calling her “an ideal candidate” and a “versatile and forward-looking academic leader.”
Previously, she has earned the David W. Hauck Award for Outstanding Teaching, which Wharton refers to as “the most prestigious in Wharton’s Undergraduate Division.”
