Penn sprint football had no trouble with Mansfield Saturday in a 39-14 win at Franklin Field on Friday.
Quakers quarterback Todd Busler manhandled the Mountaineers’ defense, throwing two touchdowns on 269 yards and running for three more in the blowout win.
Freshman running back Mike Beamish netted 163 yards — averaging 5.8 per carry — as Penn amassed over 500 yards of total offense on the night.
Mansfield, which officially joined the Collegiate Sprint Football League in 2009, kept the game close through halftime, as Penn led, 13-0, at the break. The Mountaineers matched Penn for six points in the third quarter before Busler turned it on in the fourth quarter, when Penn scored three touchdowns.
After beating two of the CSFL’s second-tier teams, Penn hosts contender Cornell before a key matchup with Army. Realistically, the Red and Blue have to win out for a chance to repeat as champions again in 2011.
