Starting last week, hundreds of admitted students flooded campus for Penn Preview Days. This weekend, Spring Fling — the one time during the year when the student body lets loose and the school is saturated with partying — coincides with Previews.
This is both a fantastic and ill-fated time for these prospective students to visit campus.
Many students look forward to Fling the entire year. The event shows how much school spirit Penn can exhibit, how much the student body can accomplish and how much fun the campus can have.
However, visiting during Fling doesn’t give prospective students an accurate view of what campus social life is really like.
Fling is just one event that makes Penn worth attending. The University has much to offer even without fried Oreos and a moon bounce. There’s a vibrant social scene, with student groups hosting a wide array of events year-round.
And for those who aren’t seeking the traditional Fling experience, know that there are other things to do than attend the concert. Penn Alternate Spring Fling offers activities for students who want a more relaxed Fling weekend.
Fling, just like Penn in general, is what you make of it.
