Theft

Feb. 24 — William Staples, 49, unaffiliated with the University and of the 5800 block of Trinity Street, was arrested at about 1 p.m. for allegedly taking merchandise without paying from Fresh Grocer, at 4001 Walnut St.

Feb. 24 — A woman unaffiliated with the University, 25, reported that an unknown suspect took her purse and fled on the 100 block of S. 41st Street at about 9 p.m.

Feb. 23 — James Graves, 61, unaffiliated with the University and of the 5400 block of Pennsgrove Street, was arrested at about 3:45 p.m. for allegedly taking merchandise without paying from the CVS located at 3925 Walnut St.

Feb. 22 — An unattended vacuum was reported to have been taken by unknown suspects from the Inn at Penn at about 9:15 a.m.

Feb. 22 — An unattended snow blower was reported to have been taken by unknown suspects from the Penn Museum at about 2:15 p.m.

Feb. 22 — A male student, 22, reported that his secured bicycle was taken by an unknown suspect from a porch banister on the 4200 block of Pine Street at about 6:45 p.m.

Feb. 22 — Tracy McGouga, 49, unaffiliated with the University and of the 5000 block of Jackson Street, was arrested at about 9:30 p.m. for allegedly taking merchandise without paying from the CVS located at 3925 Walnut St.

Feb. 21 — Equipment was reportedly removed by an unknown suspect from a construction site on the 3400 block of Sansom Street at about 10 a.m.

Feb. 21 — A man unaffiliated with the University, 34, reported that an unknown suspect removed an unattended drill from his porch on the 4100 block of Locust Street at about 1:45 p.m.

Feb. 21 — A female University employee reported that an unknown suspect removed credit cards from her unattended wallet at the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine at about 4:25 p.m.

Burglary

Feb. 22 — Anthony Hewlett, 20, unaffiliated with the University and of the 5600 block of N. Uber Street, was arrested for multiple burglaries. He allegedly tried to remove property from: the residence of a man, 19, unaffiliated with the University on the 4200 block of Walnut Street at about 6:45 p.m. on Feb. 22; the office of a female student, 21, at the Women’s Center at about 8:45 p.m. on Feb. 22; and a secured news stand on the 3900 block of Market Street at 11:15 a.m. on Feb. 21. He was also arrested for allegedly entering a building without authorization on the unit block of 33rd Street at about 9:15 p.m. on Feb. 22.

Fraud

Feb. 20 — A female student, 28, reported at about 3:30 p.m. that unauthorized charges were made to her credit cards.
