The Daily Pennsylvanian is really old. Founded in 1885, we have served as the student voice at Penn for 125 years, publishing Monday through Friday.
In many ways, the DP hasn’t changed. We still serve as Penn’s student paper, giving you all the relevant news. But in some ways, we are an entirely different organization. Back then, there was no 34th Street Magazine, theDP.com, Under the Button blog or Events@Penn. We couldn’t send e-mails when news broke, and there was no need for an iPhone app. If you wanted to know what was going on, you had to pick up the print newspaper.
Now the DP is more than just a newspaper. We can do things we never could before, like tell you about events on campus today, tomorrow and next week. We can give you breaking news that happened less than an hour ago and have a conversation with you on Twitter. We can show you video of Mask and Wig and a photo slideshow of Hey Day. When a Spring Fling performer was announced on banners across campus, Under the Button was the exclusive source, posting each clue as it appeared on campus.
We are the student voice, just like we were in 1885. But now you can use us in ways you never could before. And we want you to use us. Any way you’d like.
