The Blarney Stone, a bar and restaurant at 3929 Sansom St., was ordered to close on Monday by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board. The restaurant will reopen Tuesday at 11 a.m., according to owner Kevin Kearney.
According to Kearney, the temporary closure was ordered because the bar “bounced a check to one of our beer distributors earlier this summer.” Kearney cited “insufficient funds.”
“They don’t like it when you hang bad checks around town,” Kearney said, referring to the PLCB.
The PLCB did not return requests for comment Monday afternoon.
Kearney added that the PLCB chose Monday as an arbitrary date to close the bar.
