The funeral for Wharton junior Owen Thomas will be held Monday, May 3, at 10:30 a.m. at the Union United Church of Christ in Neffs, Pa. There will be a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., as well as a calling hour on Sunday night from 6:30 to 7:30, according to University spokeswoman Lori Doyle.
A candlelight vigil will also be held on College Green Thursday, April 29 at 8 p.m.
Thomas’ body was found at his off-campus residence at 39th Street and Baltimore Avenue around 2 p.m. Monday. Cause of death has not yet been determined, but “no foul play is suspected,” Doyle said.
A resident of Allentown, Pa. and a graduate of Parkland High School, Thomas was recently elected co-captain of the football team.
His father, Thomas Thomas, is the senior pastor at the Union UCC.
According to Doyle, the University will provide transportation to the services, but "the details haven't been worked out yet."
