Douglas Sheppard, a Wharton MBA student, died Feb. 2. He was 31.
Sheppard, a native of Rutherford, N.J., received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Delaware and would have graduated from Wharton this year.
An e-mail of condolence was sent to the Wharton MBA community on Wednesday evening, according to Wharton spokesman Peter Winicov.
“We will remember Doug for his intelligence and creativity, his irresistible sense of fun, and the care and support he gave to his friends,” the e-mail read.
Donations can be made to the Douglas James Sheppard Memorial Fund at the Prechter Bipolar Research Fund in his honor. Sheppard’s family began the fund to raise awareness of bipolar disorder, as Sheppard suffered from the disorder, according to the e-mail.
A memorial service will be held on Feb. 13 at 1:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Rutherford.
No cause of death has been reported at this time, according to Winicov.
