It looks like second chances are truly rare in gymnastics.
After taking on West Chester and Ursinus Sunday at the Liberty Classic, the Quakers were supposed to face both teams again Wednesday at Hutchinson Gymnasium. But the blizzard conditions postponed the meet to Thursday, and late Thursday night, the meet was canceled.
With a score of 181.725, Ursinus narrowly edged out Penn’s 181.200 to take second at the Liberty Classic. West Chester finished last of the four teams with a score of 176.375.
Thursday’s meet was intended to be Penn’s “Pink Meet”. The Quakers had planned to wear pink leotards to promote breast cancer awareness and to encourage fans to donate to the Rena Rowan Breast Center at the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine.
No decision has yet been made as to whether the fundraiser will be rescheduled for the team’s only remaining home meet this season on March 12.
The Quakers will take on Brown Sunday in their second Ivy meet of the season.
