The District Attorney’s Office has agreed to withdraw felony charges against three Penn wrestlers.
Seniors Matt Dragon, Cesar Grajales and Roger “Rollie” Peterkin — who were arrested on Nov. 16 in connection with an Oct. 3 incident — each still face one count of simple assault and one count of recklessly endangering another person. They are scheduled to appear before municipal court Judge Teresa Carr Deni at 9 a.m. on Thursday.
The more serious aggravated assault charges were formally withdrawn at the behest of both parties during a preliminary hearing this morning. Wearing button-down shirts and slacks, Dragon, Grajales and Peterkin arrived together at the courtroom attached to the 18th Police District at 55th and Pine Streets but did not speak in open court.
After the hearing, they briefly conferred with their attorney and walked back to campus.
All three wrestlers remain free on $7,500 bail posted Nov. 17. They also remain suspended by the Athletic Department for violating department policy.
